ifse were invited by the onsite contract caterer and global organisation to develop and deliver a brand-new F&B facility at the heart of the studio campus in a previously unloved and unused warehouse space.

Understanding that the clientele at the 1000 capacity studio was important in the initial development of the offer. With the majority of operatives having a set time for breakfast, lunch and afternoon break, the restaurant would have to cater to busy rush periods throughout the day.
Large, bright and inviting led signage would guide guests through the middle of the new seating space into the servery and into one of three distinct and separate counter offers, either the hot food offer, café or automated grab and go section.

This division of areas would allow queues to be separated and enhance speed of service. Each counter would offer a separate multideck for drinks, snacks and treats ensuring no cross queueing. The hot food counter would offer hot snacks, the meal of the day as well as an authentic pizza oven, for quick bites. The cafe offers traditional coffee, juices, sandwiches, pastries and deli items. The grab and go section is dedicated to diners who wanted to pick up a quick snack or meal deal use the self-pay screen and head out, meaning there was an offer for everyone.

The newly installed inviting seating area would act as a central meeting spot on the studio offering a more relaxed environment to catch up over a coffee or a bite to eat. Soft banquette seating, sofas and traditional dining options filled the comfortable environment.

Understanding that acoustic management would be vital in this space at peak periods, ifse designed and installed a completely bespoke felt slat wall matching the wall colour, running the length of the area. This combined with the overhead acoustic baffles would dampen noise in the restaurant and make the space feel comfortable at all periods.

Brining the outside inside, the servery gantries, acoustic baffles and recycle areas were crowned with different types of foliage, planting and greenery to create a more balanced and natural environment.

Back of house, a state-of-the-art all electric commercial kitchen would support the offer with dedicated cold room and freezer rooms to reduce the requirement for frequent deliveries.

The result was a new social, dining and meeting space at the heart of the studio.

Lead designer Dominic Ryan said at the launch:

We’re proud to have designed and delivered the space for this leading global entertainment brand. From the moment ifse were involved, we knew this would be one to get excited about. The result is a chic, modern, flexible restaurant space which creates an oasis of calm for customer and staff alike”.
