A natural and wholesome café experience for British Airways Waterside.

Introduction

In the latter half of 2023, our team were at British Airways’ Waterside head office, completing the finishing touches of our latest ‘Espresso Café’ for the Heathrow-based global airline and UK flag carrier. This was ifse’s second time completing a project on behalf of BA, following a ‘Pavement Café’ micro market installed many years ago that remains today.

Brief

Working closely with on-site caterer Baxterstorey and the British Airways team, we were tasked with creating a destination inspired by nature and keeping with surrounding space, where staff could grab a coffee, collaborate with colleagues and enjoy a nutritious lunch.

Result

The end result was an original and wholesome café experience, complete with plenty of greenery, a vibrant living wall, an illuminated map of the world and a wide variety of seating options to suit any occasion, from secluded pods to open booths. The bright and airy space was lit up by a combination of hanging pendant lights and an abundance of natural light from the surrounding windows.

Fantastic work by Sales Director John Moores and our talented designers for their close work with on-site caterer BaxterStorey to help develop this space, who we are very thankful for allowing us to transform their vision into a reality.

A huge congratulations also to our Head of Construction Neil Clark, Building Works Coordinator Harry Simpkin, Storers Ltd and the rest of the ifse build team for working relentlessly to finish this impressive project on time and within budget.
